Please could you advise as to the best method of transforming a netcdf file of results from a RCM which has a rotated pole grid onto a regular lat long grid and generating a netcdf file of the new results?

I am a fairly new user of the UM and IDL. I have used the NCAS IDL rotated grid plotting scripts to visually analyse some of my model results however, I noticed the note on pg 53 of the guide advising the use of eqtoll.f when doing more robust analysis. However, I cannot find a version or any on-line reference to eqtoll except within the UM model code itself, or what appears to be an expired ticket (#149) from this UM help desk.

Please could you advise whether is still the best approach, and if so where I could find the programme?

Hi Louise,

attached are lltoeq1a.f and eqtoll1a.f. As mentioned in the IDL guide notes is fine for plotting grids. I think the differences are in the third decimal point of the transformed data in comparison with the output from eqtoll1.f. You will need to use the Fortran approach to do more complex field manipulations and then use IDL to plot the results. You can check the outputs from both methods and then see how you wish to proceed.
