Compilation error for UM7.3

Reported by: mx020105 Owned by: um_support
Component: UM Model Keywords: Compilation
Cc: Platform:
UM Version: 7.3

Dear NCAS helpdesk,

I have copied Annette's job xegwe to xhqcb and I am trying to compile and run this on HECToR.

I am getting a few build errors. One is: ModuleCmd_Load.c(200):ERROR:105: Unable to locate a modulefile for 'xlc/v10.1.0.0'

and another is at the bottom of this message (see also attached .comp.leave file). I have just directly copied the job and changed my user details. There have probably been some changes to HECToR since this job was last used, so I'm not sure whether this might be causing the problem. Any suggestions you have would be gratefully received.

Many thanks,

Second compilation error:

Hi Amanda,

Please make sure that you have followed the instructions at HECToR Phase 3 - CMS advice for UM

Hi Willie,

Thanks for spotting that I had not updated the relevant factors to Phase 3. I have followed the instructions and then recompiled the job. The compilation is still flagging up the following errors which also appeared in the original compilation:
ModuleCmd_Load.c(200):ERROR:105: Unable to locate a modulefile for 'xlc/v10.1.0.0'
ModuleCmd_Load.c(200):ERROR:105: Unable to locate a modulefile for 'xlf/v12.1.0.0'

(see also /home/n02/n02/mx020105/um/umui_out/xhqcb000.xhqcb.d12276.t113850.comp.leave)

The only thing I can think of is that perhaps the job includes some user overrides which have the incorrect compilation flags for the Cray compiler?

Thanks a lot,

Hi again,

The only similar query I could spot on the Helpdesk archive was this:, which relates to having the right branch included for automatic archiving on HECToR. I believe that this is currently switched off in my run, but I don't know whether this could still be the source of the problem?

Hi Amanda,

You need to turn off the hand-edit ibm_modules.scr which is only needed for running on MONSooN.
