Description
Hello,
I would like to setup a run with HadGEM3-A (UM7.8) at N96 and N216 (possibly N320, N512) using SSTs from a coupled model (from 2000 to 2030, and from 2070 to 2100) and using different CO2 concentrations. I therefore need to use ancillaries that have climatological values, and not observed values. Are there somewhere on HECToR climatological values from the following ancillaries:
/work/n02/n02/hum/ancil/atmos/n96/ozone/sparc/1850_2009/v0/qrclim.ozone_L85_O85
/work/n02/n02/hum/ancil/atmos/n96/classic_aerosol/cmip5/1970_2010/v0/qrclim.sulpsurf
/work/n02/n02/hum/ancil/atmos/n96/classic_aerosol/cmip5/1970_2010/v0/qrclim.soot
/work/n02/n02/hum/ancil/atmos/n96/classic_aerosol/cmip5/1970_2010/v0/qrclim.biom
/work/n02/n02/hum/ancil/atmos/n96/classic_aerosol/cmip5/1970_2010/v0/qrclim.ocff
Kind regards,
Marie-Estelle

Hi Willie,
I am really looking for climatological values over the time period used by the cmip5 (so 1970-2010 for sulphur, soot, biomass, and 1850-2009 for ozone). Apparently these files do not exist so I'll have to generate them. Is there a UM tool that would create climatological values from these ancillary files listed above (so that creates a mean for each month over the entire period, so that it produces ancillary files with only 12 values (january to december) in the time dimension)?
cheers,
Marie-Estelle

- Keywords ancillary, climatology added
Hi Marie-Estelle,
I don't know of such a tool. I think it might be a good idea to convert the existing ancillary file into netCDF format, then do the required processing yourself and finally use a program like xancil to convert the modified netCDF back into a climatological ancillary file.
I hope that helps.
Regards,
Willie

Hi Willie,
Yes I thought of that too, so I'll do that then.
Thanks a lot for your quick replies!

Hi Marie-Estelle,
The only files on HECToR called qrclim.sulpsurf inde $UMDIR/ancil/atmos are
If you are looking for something that might be called 1970_2030/qrclim.sulpsurf, then you would either have to generate it yourself or copy it from someone else.
I hope that helps.

Willie
