running the UM on hector/monsoon

Reported by: bs Owned by: annette
Component: UM Model Keywords:

UM Version: 7.6

Hello, I am trying to get an example job for hector and/or monsoon and looked at the puma webpage of um configurations and tried to locate xfkub on the UMIU, but couldn't find it - wondering if there is something else I need to do? Best wishes, Bablu

Hi Bablu,

There is no job xfkub in the PUMA UMUI - can you paste the link to the page and I'll update it. The standard jobs can be found under user 'umui' in the UMUI. HECToR jobs require a fair amount of modification to change to a different computer like MONSooN - we can provide advice.

Hi Willie, it was here:

I think I see what the problem was, it mentioned xfuzb (not xfkub as I
said before) which I couldn't find, but it is there if I search for user
umui. I will try getting this job running n Hector first I think and then
think about switching to monsoon - will probably need some help with this,
,unless one of the other users is doing this already and I can get a job
from them perhaps? I already run NEMO on monsoon from the umui. Cheers,

Hi Bablu,

When you search for a job in the umui, you only need to type the first 4 letters of the runid into the 'identifier' box. This is because you search by experiment. I will add a note to the webpage to say it can be found under owner 'umui' to avoid future confusion.

If you ultimately want to run on MONSooN it might be easier just to start from there. I'd suggest using job xfhhz which is a port of one of the HadGEM3 development jobs to MONSooN see here for more info:

If you do want to run on HECToR I can help if you have any difficulties.

Best regards,

It's actually my mistake! The jobid is mistyped on the webpage but it's been corrected now.
