SWAMMA (Sahara West African Monsoon Multiscale Analysis)

SWAMMA is a project with Leeds and Reading components. The CMS contribution is delivered by Willie McGinty and Simon Wilson.

Willie has configured an 8.2 model (the Singapore configuration) for the 12km and 4km SWAMMA runs. The runs explore the interaction between convection, dust and radiation. Convection is run either parameterized or "explicit", dust-radiation interaction is included or not.

The UM is configured to output netcdf directly to avoid costly data conversion and transfer.

Data is held on the RDF and transferred to JASMIN for analysis.

Two time periods are under investigation to coincide with AMMA and FENNEC campaigns.
